Czech Republic vs. Slovakia from a tax perspective: a new episode of the Highgate Talks podcast

At first glance, the Czech and Slovak tax systems appear similar. In practice, however, they involve differences that can have a significant impact on business and investment decisions.

In the Highgate Talks podcast, Patrik Koželuha and Ondřej Málek, together with Peter Varga, discussed topics currently faced by many entrepreneurs and investors.

These included the taxation of shares and ETFs, dividends and the holding period test, cryptocurrencies, as well as issues of tax residency and its verification.

The differences between the two systems often become apparent only in specific situations—and it is precisely these situations that can be decisive when making decisions, for example when relocating activities between the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
