Petr Bříza and Ondřej Trubač at the Karlovy Vary law days
14. June 2026
From 11 to 13 June 2026, the 33rd edition of the Karlovy Vary law days took place at the Hotel Thermal in Karlovy Vary, a traditional meeting of lawyers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and Austria. The central theme of this year’s conference was “the beauty and complexity of compensation for damage and harm in all its forms and contexts,” focusing on civil damages and non-pecuniary harm across legal fields.
Petr Bříza and Ondřej Trubač actively participated in the program. On Thursday, Petr Bříza moderated a panel dedicated, among other topics, to the duty to prevent insolvency, the relationship between damages and unjust enrichment, and limitation periods for claims.
On Saturday, Ondřej Trubač, vice-President of the Czech bar association, moderated a panel focused on liability claims in criminal proceedings, compensation for damage caused by criminal offences, and insolvency-related contexts. In a follow-up session, he also delivered a commentary addressing state liability for failures of the tax administration.
