Petr Bříza moderated the CZIPRA 2026 roundtable on the future of arbitration

On Thursday, 22 October 2026, the CZIPRA 2026 Roundtable, entitled “Where is arbitration heading?”, took place at Palác Dunaj in Prague. The event was organised by the Czech Institute for the promotion and revitalisation of arbitration (CZIPRA). Our partner Petr Bříza, who serves as Chairman of CZIPRA, moderated the main discussion.
The main focus of the event was the results of a survey on the use of arbitration in the Czech Republic, which attracted more than 120 respondents. The survey explored the experiences of legal professionals, the barriers facing arbitration, and opportunities for its further development.
A large majority of in-house lawyers consider arbitration suitable for commercial disputes. However, only one-third share this view when it comes to construction disputes, and even fewer consider it appropriate for corporate disputes. Petr Bříza, on the other hand, sees clear benefits in using arbitration for precisely these types of disputes.
The survey results were presented and discussed by CZIPRA Committee members Dušan Sedláček, Miloš Olík and Jan Šturm.
