Petr Bříza nominated to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague
With effect from 31 December 2025, the Czech Republic has nominated Petr Bříza, partner of our law firm, to the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) based in The Hague. Each member state may nominate up to four persons. Nominees are required to be “of recognized competence in questions of international law, of high moral character, and willing to accept the duties of arbitrators.” The term of office is six years and may be renewed.
In addition to the nomination of Petr Bříza, the mandate of Professor Pavel Šturma has been renewed; he has served as a member of the PCA since 2000. The other two newly nominated arbitrators are JUDr. Emil Ruffer (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic) and Associate Professor Ondřej Sváček (Palacký University Olomouc).
We highly appreciate this nomination. We see it as recognition of Petr Bříza’s long-standing professional expertise in the field of international dispute resolution, as well as confirmation of the values on which our firm is built: a high level of professional excellence, an international outlook, and the close connection between legal practice and academic and institutional engagement.
