Legal protection of art collections: Barbora Paclíková led a seminar as part of the EduArt Experience programme

As part of the EduArt Experience programme, a seminar was held on the legal aspects of acquiring and managing artworks, led by Barbora Paclíková. The seminar focused on practical issues that collectors and investors often encounter when purchasing and overseeing art collections.

One of the central topics was the seemingly simple but practically crucial question of whether, when purchasing an artwork, an invoice and a certificate of authenticity are sufficient, or whether a purchase agreement with licensing provisions is necessary.

The subsequent discussion also addressed the broader context of legal protection of collections — from the use of foundations and trust funds in intergenerational wealth transfers to whether an artist is entitled to remuneration upon the resale of their work.

The topic of art and its legal dimension is close to Barbora Paclíková both professionally and personally, which contributed to a very engaging and dynamic discussion with participants.
